Golf practice plans: how structured training works
Most range sessions are more balls. A practice plan is the next session aimed at the part of the game that is actually costing shots.
Start with the scoring barrier
Strokes Gained shows where the round leaks shots — approach, short game, putting, tee shots. That number is the scoring barrier. If approach play is −3.8 SG, more drivers on the range will not move the score.
Turn it into a range session
The plan names the work. In that example the range session is 130–175 yd approaches, on purpose, instead of a random basket. On a course measured in meters, the same session is 130–160 m approaches.
1. Play. Track the round with GPS and live scoring.
2. Analyse. Read the Strokes Gained and find the scoring barrier.
3. Train. Take the drill or plan matched to that weakness.
4. Improve. Check the handicap history and see whether the scores move.
What you can try before you pay
The app is free to download. You can browse the drill library before a training plan, Strokes Gained, or live scoring asks for Premium. Free versus Premium lists the limits and the price — €9.99 a month, less than one lesson.
